Learning resources and student support

The faculty focuses on making sure that adequate resources are available to support student learning. It is important that the faculty provides positive learning and study environment frameworks.

The frameworks

The dean is responsible for ensuring positive frameworks for the learning and study environment. The frameworks can be divided into three groups:

  • Physical environment
  • Information and supervision for students
  • Contact between students, lecturers and researchers

Physical environment

Who is responsible

The faculty management is responsible for the physical environment on campus. The main support units are the Operations Department and ‘SAMF-IT’ (Centre for Social Science Computing).

Information, guidance and administrative services

Information and guidance are an important part of student support.  It is a requirement that information for students is presented in a way that is clearly understandable and easy to find.

Who is responsible

The faculty management has overall responsibility for the information, guidance and administrative support for the students. The Director of Studies is in charge of information and counselling work and supporting students at the faculty level.

    The Faculty Management has overall responsibility for assurance of research-based teaching and student contact with research. The Heads of Departments are responsible for assurance of research-based teaching and student contact with research within their departments.

    Evaluation of the study environment and wellbeing

    The systematic teaching-environment evaluations are important management information tools for supporting of the study environment and the student wellbeing.

    Who is responsible

    The Faculty Management is responsible for the systematic evaluation of the study environment and wellbeing, and for subsequent follow-up work. Educational Services is the administrative support unit with regard to evaluations of the study environment and wellbeing.
